Default ape handlebars positioning?

Just curious where everyone positions their apes. Most pics i've seen seem to have the apes back instead of straight up or slightly forward.I have mine slightly forward and am curious how everyone else set theirs up.Any right or wrong?

I like them in line with the forks. It's the most comfortable position for me, and to me they look best like that as well.

Cheers!

there is no right or wrong position, your comfort is what you look for.

A little more forward than you. Comfort and it looks cool too. Right on Rick. I can't be comfy with them in line with the forks or back at all. I need to sit upright, not slouch. A better view of the road and easier for turning in my opinion. Like this...Name: newbikes021.jpg

How about positioning them in the box at the dealers?

Sorry... Not a big ape fan and felt the need to be a smarta$$... (Monday, you know...)

Comfort is the best way to determine where they need to be. Mine are pretty much in line with the forks. I tried straight up and had to lean forward on my arms...cramped shoulders after about ten minutes. I also use a detachable windshield when the wife rides and the shield won't fit if the bars are straight up. Pulled too far back and they felt pretty weird, didn't feel like I had much control.
