After searching and reading many threads and posts, I came to my purchase of a Bassani 2-1 RR. Got it all hooked up to the 10 FLSTFB and added a Dynojet PCV and Arlen Ness big sucker.
Fired it up and within 30 seconds chrome began flying off of the headers and onto the engine. I immediately shut it off and examined the bike to find that the header pipes were flaking off chrome. Needless to say there was more chrome on my garage floor than our last christmas tree had on it. So I call up Bassani a week ago and am told that they had similar problems with the chrome adhession process, when they were sent out for chrome. I could care less what the pipes look like under the blacked out covers, however, I dont want pipes to rust prematurley due to the manufactures flaws. After spending big dough on the pipes, you would think they were built with quality.
Anyone else have these problems?
I am currently awaiting Bassani to send me out a replacement, although they have not contacted me back since more than a week.
I got a response by email that they are welding up a new header and sending it out for chrome again. Should be shipped in about 2 weeks. Im feeling better about the support and product now. Hope they come sooner than expected and work without problems.
I got the replacement headers, on Wed. Easy switchout in about an hour and a half. Did the warm up and let the pipes cool 4 times. Just the tiniest bit of flaking, but it could be from the old pipes. If anyone wants pics, shoot me an email.
You got lucky. Couple of years ago I put a set of Bassani Pro Streets on my 03 Lowrider. About two months later, coming home on night bike starts running shitty and when I look down sparks flying off the pavement. Turns out the pipe is dragging on the road. Got it wired up and got home. Turns out the bracket that mounts the pipe to the bike broke right along the weldthat held it to the pipe. Perfect break could not have been cleaner if I had cut it w/ a band saw. Contacted the online supplier who referred me to Bassani. Long story short, after numerous emails, snail mails and phone calls there was no replacement from Bassani. They can kiss my ***, wouldn't put anything from them on any bike even if they paid me If I can find the pics i will post them
