I bought a 2010 FLHTP with100 miles on it. After I do the dealer 1000 mile honk job, I want to do a stage 1 upgrade myself.
I'm planning on getting the V&H Dresser Dual header pipes to get rid of that F-ing CAT and then put some slip on Monster Ovals or something else for a deep throaty sound (Open for suggestions here)
Second, I need a good high flow A/C that will accomodate the stock A/C cover. Last, I have no clue about fuel mgmt....Power Commander, SERT, V&H fuel Pak????? I will be doing it myself to save on dealer dyno and labor costs...Basically, I will be broke at that point and can't have the dealer do it!
Thanks for the help!
I went with the power commander v in my sportster and love it. Makes the bike really responsive and doesn't starve it for fuel. It was also very easy to load a map from the computer and to connect it to the bike.
I had the fuel pak and didn't like it. I use the TTS mastertune and it is great b/c I can update my map when I make a change to the bike...lots of info on this on the forum.
I went to fuelmoto and they sell a SE equivalent air cleaner (actually several) several exhaust options and power controllers...I bought the se af, jackpot slipons, and PCV (pre-progammed) for well under $500 (I can't remember exactly how much...it was a great deal the bike runs great and fast...they sell a after market header that can give you few more hp if you really want it...and to top the deal off the PCV can run with 2 different maps, so I loaded in a map for power and another for fuel mileage and in stalled a toggle switch to switch back and forth (which you can do on the fly)...go check out there website. personnally if you are broke-ish I wouldn't worry about the cat. as removing it will only gain you a few hp..
I concur with Fuelmoto. I just bought a package from Keith and couldn't be happier. I got the EFI tuner already programmed, the high flow air cleaner, and monster ovals for just over $900. It is easy to install yourself, and it makes a real difference (seat of the pants speaking). Shipping was extremely fast and free.
I just finished mine with v&h dresser dual, v&h fuelpak, Hd se a/c stage 1, and cfr muffler (used). All done for a grand! Love that sound! But research for what you want.
