I had an 04 883C myself (SE AC, slip-ons and jetted by yours truely) and it would definately do more than 80. I had it to an indicated 115mph before but that took a while and the bike didn't feel happy at that speed. Hit a bump or dip in the road at those kinds of speeds and you REALLY feel how lousy the stock suspension is. That bike would pull all the way to the rev limter in 5th if you were patient enough.
There's is definately something amiss with your Sporty.
Does the fact that you weigh 437lbs. have anything to do with it? (Just cranking yer chain and Ireland put it to England in the rugby tourney... yes!!! ;- )).
I thought someone might bring that up! Yea, I definitely ain't built for a sportster but it beats commuting in a car!
nice bike man!! i had an 03 xlh883 and it had plenty of go! ive had it to aprox 112 mph. but it never felt happy there. had sc/ac stage 1 and 1 3/4 dragpipes on it! i actualy miss that bike at times. makes my evo feel like a garbage truck! haha lol!!
Hmmm, I'm in the same situation. Considering an 883 for my GF once she takes the safety course and gets her license. However, the last thing I'm thinking about is what kinda top speed she can get outta her very first bike...
I wouldn't get your gilrfriend a sporty for her first bike. They are not the easiet to handle. Center of gravity is way to high.
