I am thankful for our system. I, like anyone, prefer a great deal to being skinned. However, I sure hope HD and dealers make a healthy gross margin and a good profit. Just call me a Capitalist Pig.

Think of it this way. Back in the day, we used to cobble parts from different bikes to customize our bike. We would take engines apart and have jugs bored and pistons fitted to achieve the inches we wanted with compression ratios. Things we wanted chromed, we took off and went to the chromers. Now you walk into the store, open a catalog or go on-line. You can find whatever your little heart desires and just bolt it on. In order to do that, you have to pay for it. We paid for it also, only in a different way. when it didn't work or fit it was our fault. Now you can blame the dealer.
