By the way, the dealer that built my bike for himself claims that he got 105 Horsepower out of it! Does anyone think that is possible?
By the way it feels I can almost believe it.
It is quite possible that your bike max out on the dyno at 105 hp. But you have to ask your self at what RPM? Probably close to redline, and your not going to ride your bike at redline. My question would be what is the max Torque and at what RPM.
Kuryakan make something called a CRUSHER KIT which is pretty much the same thing as the Screaming Eagle Stage 1 Big Bore Kit. I wathced them install it on a 06 Wide Glide on American Thunder on the Speed Channel and they showed the HP at approx. 60-65 before the kit when dynoed and approx. 105 HP after the kit was installed.
So in short the answer to your question is YES, it is possible that your bike can put out 105 HP.

Thanks Grunt. The dealer did make one good point though. He said that for about $1,500 he could have increased the 07 1583 which is 96cc to over 100. He also said that I am maxed out on my 06 and have nowhere to go with it. I said, in reply, that I wouldn't want any more power because I can't even cruise slowly now.

Dealer is lying to you. The 88s can go to 103 with more parts (jugs, rods, etc.). With the 96 you could get to 110 if you wanted, but hell if you just want cu. in get an S&S kit - you'll can get 124 (2000cc). And a 95 could easily get to 105. The 107 I have in the Outlaw is supposed to be 120hp, and that is about the same % over the 1hp/1in that is simple to get to.
Think of it this way, you have $1500 to spend on other stuff.
I guess Ill just be happy with my 88CI stock 06.Only thing I am adding is a stage 1 and SE2 exhaust.Plenty fast enough for what it is.If I wanted fast I would get a GSXR again.
Bronk: I agree with what you said. Its not all about speed. My main gripe is that a dealer who sold me the bike told me one thing and another dealer told me another. I was just trying to determine which is the truth. They play with your head! If you tell a dealer that you paid only $100 for a bike, he will tell you that he could have done it for $99. I can't stand that. If I found one that would just tell the truth, I would cross state lines to buy from him!
I've got an '06 and eventually I would like to do some serious engine work to it. If I was going to leave it stock (or just upgrade AC & exhaust), then I'd want an '07. But for serious performance, my preference is the motor with the shorter stroke. This is a preference thing and many people would disagree, but I'd want a better balance of torque and hp. These vtwins are already super torquey by design and in my opinion where they need help is breathing and reving.
You *might* actually have the ideal setup. I bet it will FLY, but it isn't so extreme to kill its reliability. Torque is manageable but when you want it, just let it rev a bit and you're making serious power. Sounds like you've got an awesome motor. If that HP estimate is anywhere near correct, you'll be seriously disappointed going to an '07.
my '06 has the 95" kit se203 cams,pc3 u.s.b and it dyno'd @ 85.7 h.p. & 91 ft.lbs. of torque
with some head work and bigger cams i dont see a prob. w/ getting 105hp. out of it..
trust me...you'll be happier w/ the '06
