The most important thing is not to let the boot rubber stay on the exhaust very long. The longer it stays on, the harder it is to get off. Never Dull is a decent chrome cleaner but mostly it will take a little more time and effort to get the rubber off of the exhaust.

I used easy off oven cleaner. I just sprayed it on a rag away from the bike. And let it set for a few minutes. Then wiped it off.

Mr. Clean magic eraser....works like "magic". soak eraser with water, ring out, rub on cold pipes & wipe clean. No risk of paint or chrome damage.

+1 on the magic eraser

I don't use anything sharper than my fingernails to clean anything on the bike.
Too easy to scratch it.

I've been on a few short rides around my neighborhood, and apparently on my last ride, my right boot heel was touching the pipe and a small part of it melted!

Now what!?

Should I use rubber remover or chrome polish to clean it off? Does the pipe need to be warm when I try this? I was gonna pick up some Mother's - I don't have any cleaners/polish yet. Your thoughts and tips much appreciated!
Don't put your boot on the pipe/ heat shield. And don't worry about it; after all it is a motorcycle, not a trophy!
