Default Newbie Maintenance Question

Being a new rider, I can't tell ya how much I appreciate posts from you folks! Today's question is rather embarrassing!

I've been on a few short rides around my neighborhood, and apparently on my last ride, my right boot heel was touching the pipe and a small part of it melted!

Now what!?

Should I use rubber remover or chrome polish to clean it off? Does the pipe need to be warm when I try this? I was gonna pick up some Mother's - I don't have any cleaners/polish yet. Your thoughts and tips much appreciated!

EZ Off oven cleaner. Happens to all of us one time or another.

Cover all painted surfaces if you use oven cleaner, it will eat paint. Doing a search with "boot marks" will probably get ya a ton of diff treatments

Use "Road Rub". It's a dry stick that you just rub on the melted rubber, or road tar, and it polishes the chrome perfectly. This stuff is inexpensive and works great.

Sorry, man, but your bike is ruined. I'll come haul it away for you for only $78.50.

Spray the rag not the bike.

I *just* dealt with this!

Soak it with WD40 (after it cools off!), and scrape it off with a razor blade.

Pipes look as good as new!

Oven cleaner didn't work that well for me ....
