Sons first ride
We had a lovely sunny weekend here in the Uk last week and my 9 year old son decided it was time for me to take him out for his first ride.
We live on the South coast, it was 25 degree C and I took him for a 7 mile each way trip to Berry Hill (behind Arundel castle) where there is a large parking area with a café. There were about fifty bikes of which many were Harleys. He was greeted warmly by many fellow bikers and chuffed to bits about this he was. The regulatory ice-cream did help a lot I'm sure but, he really enjoyed it.
So much so that he wanted to go again this weekend. The weather was still very good and we went to the dealership. It was two hour trip with a massive hot dog and a Coke in the middle this time. Ordered some footboard bracket extenders as this will keep his ankles a little further away from the hot exhaust.
We had a great day out and I'm not sure if I did not like it even more than he did. This was a moment where I did not mind him growing up.
Today is a public holiday here and he wants to go out for a ride again.
He caught the bug!
Now its the grandkids. 2 oldest(8 & 9) cant get enough. Everytime one of the bikes start up here they come with helment in hand.
These memories will last a lifetime.
See my avitar as to what santa brought them last year

My kids have been riding with me since 3/4.
My son (4) was chicken ****, so his little 3 yo sister got to ride first ... and it was ON for both of them!
I stuck a shifter peg into AC center bolt. Same thread. On the left side it was a regular foot peg off the horn bracket. They'd sit in front of me and hang on to the gas cap. My ex was a bitch-on-wheels and I would rather ride with the kids.
Taking one at a time and coming back for the other became a pain in the ***, so I got an old Beemer and put a side hack on it. The 3 of us cruised for days on end.
Though my daughter still rides given an opportunity, she doesn't want her own.
My son will be 20 this summer and rides one of my Beemers after destroying his first street bike '80 XS650 Yamaha.
They grow up fast. Its awesome though as we get to ride all over Dixie together.
