Default Jackets

So based on the recommendation of a friend, I ordered a horsehide jacket from Legendary. It was too short for me so it is now up for sale in the classifieds (grandson ripped off the tags so I can't return it). So I had just been wearing my Carharrt when riding. Not the best, but they are very durable so I figured it was better than nothing.

This morning I had to drop off a tire from my lawn tractor at the JD dealer (also Honda and Kawasaki). I figured while I was there I would see what they have, and I walked out with a TourMaster in black for $180.

I like the fact that it is armored since I am just now returning to riding after 30 years, and it will serve me well until I can decide on a leather jacket that I like.

So, what leathers do you all recommend?

Thanks,

Mike

I love my two jackets from Branded Leathers in LIC, NY. Very heavy, excellent zippers and stitching. The make the jackets for NYPD and LAPD mounted units.

I checked out a FXRG that a friend from work has. It seemed nice, but I am looking for an armored jacket. I figure it is not IF I will go down, but when, and I want as much protection as possible.

My FXRG came with armor but it is a few years old. Maybe the newest generation FXRG doesn't come that way.

The next one have armour - its that soft flexible type though, no boy racer football pads which suits me just fine.

The FXRG has armour in the shoulders, elbows and back and is the most versatile leather jacket I own and I own one from just about every major manufacturer including Langlitz, Vanson, Schott, HD, Brooks and formerly a Fox Creek. Yeah, I'm a recovering jacket junkie.

Sounds like your jacket collection could give Imelda Marcos' shoe collection a run for it's money.

Another gear junkie here. I have First Gear, Harley and Aerostitch but, the FXRG mid weight leather jacket is the best or the bunch. warmer, waterproof and armored. It's expensive but, factor out the cost of a good rain jacket and it isn't that bad.
