I've heard that argument before and still lock my bikes when parked no matter where they are.

My bike is in a locked garage. Keys, helmet, jacket and sunglasses are on the bench ready to ride. Once they get into the garage, it's between me and the insurance company. Really - it's only a bike - it's locked in my garage and insured.

(unless of course my Rottweiler gets a crack at them )

A nice guy would leave a 5 so they could get some gas while they're at it.

My bike doesn't need the key. Turn the switch on the tank and fire it right up. I have left the house and forgotten the bike key - which sucked when I needed gas because I have a locking gas cap and that key is on the ring with the bike key.

That's why you always fillup before parking. Wouldnt want them spilling gas on the tank.

Last week at the Thunder Beach rally in Panama City Beach, FL the guy who was parked next to me in the parking lot at a restaurant got his bike jacked. His ignition was locked and his alarm was activated. He was sitting right next to us on the deck outside the restaurant about 50 feet from his bike when it happened and no one noticed. Of course it was night time and there was a zillion bikes everywhere. Chit like that puts things in perspective, but it goes to show you if people want it they will get it. Locks only keep honest people honest.
