I wear my chaps if it's under 65 degrees.
Most people who hate them are so concerned about how they look.
Who F'n cares? They are absolutely comfortable and make riding so much more enjoyable.
I've seen riders with kakhi pants and loafers .. shorts, flip flops and full face helmets. Now these people look like idiots to me ... but I guess they are laughing at my chaps.

for me i wear khakis and shoes on my bike sometimes because that's what i wear to work, i ride my bike almost everyday sans snow so i don't need to get gussied up in my pirate gear every time i turn the engine over. it's not really a huge event to me every time i get on my bike like it is for the guy who only takes the bike out once a month and only if all his friends can get away from their wives to go riding.

I wear my chaps when its cold. I started off buying a really cheap set many years ago at a swap meet and eventually bought a high end set. Funny thing, no one has ever in the 3 decades I have been wearing them, ever said one thing about them. But then again, I don't hang around with short riding wannabes who think riding motorcycles involves heading to the nearest bar and sitting inside while talking about how cool they are.

There's another thing I have recently picked up on about this ongoing forum debate concerning chaps. I think you might find that the same people who are ripping on chaps are the same group who rip on windshields, saddlebags (cause they ruin the lines of the bike LOL!), and any other protective gear people wear. It took me a while because I'm slow, but its pretty clear that people who wear chaps actually ride..... a lot and a long way. The other group, not so much.

Sorry Dude, I got nice big saddlebags to carry my khakis, shoes and lunch. Got to change when I get there but don't feel like khakis and dress shoes offer any real protection. Chaps fit in the bags nicely. Never wear those things around.

I wear chaps, in the cold. They might not be as good in a slide, but I can't imagine what PIA leather pants would be to put on. I do wear my chaps on long trips when warm, and I would think pants would make for a sweaty seat. Don't need that. So I like my elkskin chaps. Never thought twice about how popular they are til I joined HD Forum. I think you can notice that users are from cold states, teasers warm states Why don't one of you warm guys come up and ride in 35 degree weather with no chaps, and see how that works for ya.

I wear mine in cooler temps. As for the assless part, it makes it easier for anyone that doesn't like what I'm wearing to kiss my ***.

This has been an ongoing (and pointless) discussion before. Yes, a number of members seem to be homophobic and have decided assless chaps are less than manly. Tell ya what...I have been miserable enough that when it drops down below about 45 for a shorter ride and below 50 for long rides...I don't much care what anyone thinks...I wear them. Oh and God forbid I will wear a full face helmet then too! To me...riding without being cold is a lot nicer experience than riding around freezing my butt off.

I quit worrying about what everyone else thinks when I left high school.

In own a pair. I don't think they're gay. Regardless, I was born with no ***, so I look ridiculous wearing them. Plus, they're a pain to put on. Long underwear and/or fleece-lined jeans for me now.

The reason they are assless BearNVa is so your boyfriend doesn't have to pull 'em down. You say you have a few friends that wear 'em. I bet you do. Get a bike first mate.
