Total preference. I was deciding between the 2 myself at Bike Week in Daytona. 2 things, I found I did not like the lay of the RG fairing and did not like that the headlight did not follow front end while turning (not a huge deal).

So, went with the SG. Love it, right for me. I am sure there are plenty of happy RG owners that can nit pick away on the SG too.

At the end of the day, you gotta ride it, gotta love it, and gotta make the payments

I went with the Road Glide because of the frame mounted fairing. My thinking was for more stability while riding, nothing to do with looks, I went with the Glide family for comfort (1000 times better than the FXDSE). BUT as said already UNLESS someone else is making the payment, get what YOU want.

I have an Ultra now so have that experience with batwing fairing. I took a Roadglide for a test ride a couple of weeks ago and came away more uncertain that ever as to whether I liked it or not. I didn't feel that it was missing anything compared to my current ride but I wouldn't be able to decide if I liked it without at least a few hundred miles under some different conditions and roads. The distance to the windshield as compared to the Ultra was stunningly noticable, but not objectionable. The Roadglide had a 103 in it and that felt like something I would definately pay the extra for.

Like yourself I was not a fan of the Road Glide the first couple hundred times I looked at it. I am not sure what hanged, but I do find myself looking at it more than before now and think I could see myself on one. I am partial to the SG but it would be a hard choice.
