RE: H.D. made in China.? Honda made in U.S.A. ? -Explain
Instead of the word "made in USA" it should read "assembled in USA of parts from many countries". Window stickers on automobiles indicate % content of US made parts versus overseas. Harley is no different. They outsource globally but assemble in the USA, same as Honda, Kawasaki (Nebraska), and car makers Toyota, Honda, Acura, etc. etc.
Check out Motorclothes labels for "Made in ______".

Wow, 'Enough said. To each his own". The plants in the US and Canada manufacture - not just ASSemble - cars, motorcycles, transmissions and motors. Add to that, the fact that they create thousands of jobs in the US and I'd say a fair share of the money stays right here.

Hey Toyrider, Yep, if you look at the tags, most will say China, all the leather goods (gloves, chaps, jackets, etc) are made there.
Almost all the HD accessories are made in Taiwan now (check the boxes the next time you're in your dealership, almost every item will have manufactured in Taiwan on it). Now from a buyers point of view, that's not a bad thing. Manufacturing our chrome dodads overseas is how they keep the costs down and can compete with the aftermarket companies. All of these parts (and clothing) are still made to Harley standards, so you're getting quality stuff. Where it hurts of course, is the job market, more and more jobs are going overseas, that's not a good thing.
