I am usually half lit when on the forum, but will not get on the bike with even a drop of booze in my system. It's hard for me to imagine riding with even the slightest intoxication, yet i see brothers parked outside the bars all the time. Are you folks really riding drunk (or even with a slight buzz) on your bike?
I have in past and don't know how I survived ....
These days I won't ride with more than 1 beer or 1 mixed drink in my system and even that is extremely rare ....
I have a few friends that i like to ride out dinner with then ride back and ill have a beer with the meal but thats pretty much it. If i go out drinking im not driving or riding anything.....its good to have sober friends.
September of 2009 a buddy of mine called to see if I wanted to get together with the old group and I said sure, nothing but a ride thru a couple counties. We stopped at a few bars and along the way picked up a few more riders.
one of the last stops was a bar in a town about 30 miles from home, after an hour or so in there shooting pool and hanging out I had had enough as I don't normally spend much time in bars so told my bud I was out of there and rode home by myself.
The next morning I got a call from one of the others with the group telling me my friend was in the hospital on life support keeping him alive after he didn't make a corner with his impaired state after smoking a bunch of bowls along with a good bit of alchohol.
I got to the hospital as quick as I could though it didn't matter he was being kept alive with machines. I got to hug and hang onto his daughter for both of our sakes for awhile.
Just one story that didn't have a good ending, Lord only knows how many times i have done the same thing years ago.

I did the 1 beer thing when I first started riding, but I drink Diet Squirt now if on my bike. I live in deer country and I dont like to ride at night, much less at night impaired. So I too, am surprised at how many impaired riders are parked outside taverns at night, and takeoff WOT.
im not a drunk anyway but will on occasion have a beer while out on a ride, depending on weather ambience company etc, but not really ever more then 2 beers, you get liquored up your likely to start twistin the throttle, its a death wish drinkin spirits or large amounts of alcohol while ridin!
ride safe
