I love the Love Ride. Have been there the last 7 years. The ride itself is a pain in the butt. 15,000 bikes trying to leave the Glendale dealer and head for the lake. It takes a couple of hours to get them all moving and then once you hit the freeway, no more traffic control. So imagine 15,000 blending in with traffic on an already crowded freeway. Don't get me wrong, it is something you want to do once or twice just to experience it.

The last 4 years, we get there around 7pm, but instead of parking in the staging line, we park at a grocery store close by. We watch the morning band and enjoy all of the pre-ride festivities. Once they announce for the riders to move to their bikes, we head for our bikes, jump on the freeway and head to the lake. We can get parked and comfortable and then watch all the other bikes ride in.

The party at the lake is a blast. They normally some good bands, a few vendors and some great food.

I think if your close by, it's worth going to at least once. If you need to travel in for it, you will most likey be disappointed.

I'm still thinking about it. My friend went last year alone on his victory, and said it was just too crowded and slow. At the lake he said it was a great party if you were with a group to party. Another said you have to do it at least once.
I've tried several gatherings this year, but have yet to see what I want to see: lots of after market vendors for me and my ride, fun food, and maybe some of those contests.
I don't know anything about poker runs.
