It seems that you can usually count on someone in a car to do something really stupid that makes for a close call. Headed into work this morning on the bagger, a woman turned left into a driveway RIGHT in front of me. I was so busy stopping, I never even got a chance to hit the horn or use my extensive vocabulary of special swear words. As it turned out, no harm so I continued to work. It really was still bugging me though, because I had upgraded that headlight to a Piaa a year or two ago, and I knew it was very white and bright and visible. How could she not see me??? So I walked back out into the parking lot, turned on the ignition, and checked the front of the bike. Nothing. The bright still works, so I'll use that to get home. I wasn't running my passing lamps, so there was no lights on in the front. At least it wasn't night time. Guess I'll save those special swear words for another time, when my headlight works.
I recently traded in my black street glide for the new apple green glide. my thinking, now that i live near old people in florida, was that i would be more visible. wrong! the second day i rode the new "green machine" i had two close calls with drivers cutting me off. go figure! Glad you didn't have an incident!
Glad you're ok. I use my passing lamps all the time. I figure every little bit helps. But it sounds to me like this person was taking their chances anyway turning in front of you.

Same here, since adding passing lamps to my SG, they are always on. Figure it can't hurt.
I'm hoping everyone would probably know their head light was out at night, but I still run my passing lamps at all times.
I just meant it would suck to have only the bright to use in traffic. My passing lamps are actually aircraft landing lights with no refractors, so they are a little too bright for traffic also. But you can spot deer in northern Wisconsin 1/4 mile away.
I run my high beam during the day... My dad suggested I do cause he said my low didn't seem bright enough... Plus I think my headlight kinda bounces/vibrates so it almost looks like it's flashing...I notice this at night when I can see my headlight beam bouncing on the road in front...

I had the BAL taillight on the Ultra, which really helped. Having traded that in for my current ride I am concerned a bit...so put the LED headlight in...which seems to do the job.
Let's face it...there are a portion of drivers that putting on additional lighting or other techniques will help with....but nothing helps the driver who has their face buried in their phone texting or playing on the internet.
Speaking of cages doing something stupid, this morning on my ride to work i almost rear ended a cage cause they suddenly signaled and made a left turn from the regular lane when there was a turning lane....idiot drivers
