damn, that's probably my second biggest fear (losing it in a curve), my first being someone crossing into my lane. Glad you're OK, and I hope you can get it fixed up soon.

I don't have an engine guard on mine.
The damage was really not too bad other than the tank

I scraped up the rear turn signal, the mid pegs I installed took the brunt and dug into the street. I did break off the front turn signal but it didn't even break my mirrors.

I do have 12 inch apes on it and a 2 inch tank lift which really don't go together. As a result, the apes put a large dent in my tank

I replaced the turn signals and am looking for a tank. Other than that the bike is fine.

I picked it up with the help of the lady at the stop sign, thanked her and insured her I was OK then hopped back on and went home to lick my wounds and work on my hurt pride

as the pictures in my earlier post show, I had some road rash but that is about it. My right boot was scuffed to hell too but my foot was OK. The peg kept the bike off of it too.

I don't think I will put an engine cage on it now, I think the mid pegs did a better job of stopping the worst damage, and I don't have a trashed bar

Just my thoughts

Glad that you are OK. Gravel in a curve sucks. Around here you just have to expect it and just be happy when it is not there. Last year a hay truck dumped crashed in a corner and I came upon it as they were cleaning it up. I had to ride through about 4-6" of spilled hay in a corner. Did not slide out, but it was close.

glad you weren't hurt too badly. gravel in a corner (even if you do know it's there) is always unpredictable. there's been a couple times I've just let off of the throttle and took a deep breath while riding thru it

No insurance I assume. It sucks but the most important thing is you're ok.

That's what you have insurance for. If it's the 1st claim, it shouldn't affect the rate. You'd be surprised how much they charge for the parts alone if you pay to fix it yourself.

Definitely sux & there might be some forum members who can re-supply you w/heritage parts. That road rash is nasty stuff - watch out for the antiseptic sting & don't worry...bike will get fixed. Luckily you're still kick's & ready to ride. Heal well!
