Same here...yesterday coming home from work I hit an oil slick about a mile from the house. Bike ended up on the backrest and handlebars upside-down. Saddlebag and backrest took the brunt of the damage, but only cosmetic. My delectable is $500 and I've already found 90% of the parts on eBay for under $250. So far the only issue is finding a replacement saddlebag. I don't see the point in going to the insurance.

For our own edification here...can you describe the crash? How fast were you going...big sweeping turn or a tight turn...accelerating/decelerating...did you tap the brakes at all in the turn? Fill us in here please.

I was going 25-30 max thru a somewhat tight turn on a back country road ( not one of those 90 degree 10 mph turns).I was decelerating in the turn i never accelerate until i get thru the turn no brake in the turn. i feel like i did everything correct just bad luck i guess

That sucks man - at least you are OK - I hate gravel anywhere, but it especially sucks in a turn when you have the bike leaned over. That's why I always watch out for any crap in the road and adjust my line accordingly. But if you don't see it until it's too late, there's not much you can do but throttle back and pray.

Yeah, there are no atheists in those pucker moments on a bike. Yesterday I didn't notice the loose gravel sign tucked in amongst all the lane ending, road work ahead signs. They had graveled the whole dang road so it looked like a solid surface til ya hit it all squirelly, and start hearing all the dinging going on. Hate that! Quick prayer and hands off throttle and brakes worked.
