That is why I let those Jiffy Lube places do my four-wheeled vehicles. I only do the bike. Not that concerned about the others.....

I gave up a long time ago trying to keep it from getting all over. now I just take the filter off and let her rip. Oil all over the place. I then blow it all off with brake cleaner till it's all nice and clean. I do this with the oil pan under the bike. Most of the time the bike ends up a little cleaner then it was before I started.

Heh. Change the oil on a TC B motor one time and you'll be singing praises to the guy who designed yours. Probably the same guy, tho...

I don't worry about it. At least that part of the frame isn't going to rust.

They designed it so you'll get so aggravated you'd rather pay the dealership to do it.

Gotta love the guy who designed the Jeep 4.0L inline six. Filter is hanging out on the passenger side of the block with lots of real estate around it. I love changing the oil on the Jeep.

It AIN'T rocket science!!

I use the 2 liter coke bottle method to remove the oil/filter.

1. Cut the bottom off a 2 liter coke bottle. Leave the cap of the bottle on.

2. Cut about a 2 inch wide slot about halfway up from the cut off end.

3. Slide the coke bottle over the oil filter. The slot is there for your filter wrench.

4. Stuff a couple of paper towels under the filter to catch what little will leak.

5. Remove the oil filter. The coke bottle is big enough to catch the removed filter and oil that's in it.

I don't have any tips as far as the oil getting on the bike but I keep a squirt bottle of 50/50 Greased Lightning and water handy. You can squirt it on , wait a few minutes wash it off and repeat. Don't use it on bare aluminum though. It is also the best I have ever seen at cleaning wheels and tires.

My 'B' motor on my previous '05 Deuce never could keep from spilling oil in 34 changes. On my 2011 RGU I bought an H-D orange oil filter drian "THING". It took four oil changes to learn how to use it and I am proud to say did not spill a single drop, not a drop on the fourth change.
