Default Srewed I think.

Last week I discovered leak under primary near plug.
Took plug and replaced O ring to make sure that was not it.
Put plug back in and it would not tighten.
Took primary cover off and discover plug hole thread are almost stripped bare!!
Sent it to Harley Dealer. They called today and said NOT under warranty. Said everything short of accusing me. Told me near $1,000 to fix because they decided it needed new inner cover. Told me inner cover was $400 bucks.
I just saw it online on HD sight for $299.00 (60792-06C )
My warranty is up in October.
Can they make that strip by me thing fix? (no proof) and yes I will SHOW them the price of inner primary from HD sight.

Ops?

I don't know if they will help you out. I do know, I never tighten my plugs to Harley specs. Way to tight.

Why would you need a new " inner" cover when the plug is in the outer cover ?

Teflon tape wrapped around the plug should work. It's not exactly a permanent fix but it will work.

Good choice. Another way: Drill and tap for a slightly oversize plug.

I'd be hunting a competant, honest dealer...the one you got is giving you a hosing.

Saw plugs on this site somewhere that will basically cut new threads a bit larger than the stock bolt. Could be an easy quick fix.

I asked about drilling larger plug..got run around.
How long should it take a trained person to undo everything, take the inner off and put it all back together?
