It's time for a new helmet my and my wife's 8 year old ones are showing their age. I was looking around and some now have bluetooth built in. This is by Hawk http://goo.gl/aJ9Az I've never had one from them. So I guess I've got 2 questions. 1) Is hawk a decent brand and 2) Any opinions of someone that has one (or two ) of these.
I had one from Hawk 3 or 4 years ago. It's an adequate helmet. At the time I was looking for a cheap helmet, and it fit the bill. Now, though, I'd rather save a little more money and buy a better quality helmet.
Truthfully, most new helmets are comparable with blue tooth kits.
If you want cheap and name brand walk into a Cycle Gear or some other primarily metric bike gear retail store. The metric guys always want fashionable and new, so there almost always seems to be a bargain on previous seasons helmets.
The bargain wall at Harley dealers is good, but you might spend $150 on a off season HD brand helmet and the same manufacturer helmet (like Arai) can be bought at Cycle Gear for $120.
Now, all this I mentioned was if you just want a cheap DOT helmet. Price will vary depending on model, manufacturer, stock, and style. If you want something specific, or want something especially light, a particular brand (like the Bell RSD limited edition) you are going to pay more.
