Default Back Rest No Lockee?

WTF Just paid $600 for a new Mustang seat with drivers backrest. The backrest just slides in and out. Seems like there should be some kind of locking mechanism to stop someone from just pulling up and having themselves a new backrest.

I have the HD version. You have to squeeze the mechanism together so it snaps in place, then it's locked. Shiddy that the mustang version doesn't lock in place. Send it back and get a proper one. You don't want it to work it's way out and fall off on the highway.

I don't know about the Mustang versions but the Corbin seats that I've seen in the past, the backrests were secured with a set screw.

and to add, I run corbin seats, I don't use the fastener, and I have never had an issue of it falling out or trying to while riding, over 60k miles on them. Theivery well that's another story.

I'm quite happy with my HD back rest. You can snap it into 3 or 4 different settings depending on how high you want it. No screws. It's a little tricky to snap in and snap out until you know how to do it, so it would be hard to steal. I'm more worried about losing my quick release passenger backrest and luggage rack. That comes off easy and fast.

Using your vernacular "WTF, why don't you just call Mustang and ask them?" Seems like your question would be answered best by the manufacturer.

Just a though.

the mustang version is the same as the harley version, it does stay in place when it's snapped in. if it's theft that worries you, why not just take 5 seconds and remove it?

Locks keep honest men honest. If someone want to steal something off your bike, lock or otherwise, they'll take it. Relax and ride.

I've had mine for a year and I think its the best thing I've put on the bike yet, takes a lot of the fatigue out of long rides. It will not work itself out like someone mentioned.
I believe it fits in the bags but I've never tried it. Leave it home if your worried about it getting stolen...it defeats the purpose of having it but...
