Default Kendon trailer question

I picked up a 2 place Kendon trailer a few weeks ago and do not like the ramp that it comes with. Any sugestions for a good ramp that is not super costly? It would be nice to have something you can stand on while taking the bike up.

PS: I have three dogs so when we go see my family I have to trailer so please do not give me a hard time.

Default Kendon Trailer

I agree with you completely. I purchased the fold up Kendon trailer last year and after loading and unloading my bike -- quickly began pursuing a longer and wider ramp. I purchased a ramp (7' long) through discountramps.com that folds up and works much better. There is plenty of room for my feet to balance as I go up and down the ramp. I love everything about the trailer, except the awful ramp! SJ Ron

I have the same dual bike Kendon and also did the same thing as SJ RON. IIRC the ramp I bought from discountramps.com was about $200.00 but it was money well spent. Don't trust a cheapie ramp when it comes to a high dollar bike. Buy cheap, pay twice...Buy once, buy right. Most people only make that mistake once, but some people need a few more lessons than others.

The ramp on the Kendon is the biggest POS I have ever seen. It's very poorly engineered and borderline dangerous when you try to walk a heavy bike onto the trailer.
That and the optional spare wheel/tire, mounted under the trailer. Smart, uh? Imagine yourself needing the spare wheel at night with your trailer loaded.

I'd have someone fabricate (or I'd buy) a much wider ramp with good anchor points, or have someone weld extensions on both sides of the stock ramp. Problem is, it won't stow under the trailer so you'll have to put it in the trunk of your car, ............... along with the spare wheel.

I have a dual Kendon. Totally agree with the other posts - toss the included ramp. So I am looking for a replacement. The ramp must support my Road Glide.
The $200 TF-6050 at http://www.discountramps.com/folding...ailer-ramp.htm reportedly holds 1500 pounds "evenly distributed." it has tree rails. Does that mean 500 pounds per rail? The photo shows a Road King which weighs over 500 lbs. Thoughts on this ramp for the RG. Thanks
