If it's a custom bike, it's hard to say what they put in it. If it's an EVO is would have been 80" originally.

If anybody can tell me anything about this engine case # BKLX940078
Other than it's an FXSTC I sure would appreciate it . I'd really like to
know the year .

Thanks ,

Bill

Noone is going to be able to tell you exactly what you have. You might have to get your hands dirty and mind busy to find your answers. Google is your friend.

Welcome to the forum, Bill. Those ten characters are an abbreviated VIN used on the engine and it sounds like the style used for 1981 and/or later:

BK = model designation = FXSTC = Softail Custom
L = 80 cubic inch (1340cc) Evolution engine
X = model year = 1999
940078 = sequential production number

I see you have a Santee frame. But if it had been a Harley frame then the frame would have had a full seventeen-character version of the VIN and that would have been something like the following example: 1 HD 1 BK L 1 * X Y 940078

I used an asterisk (*) instead of the ninth character but in reality on a Harley frame the ninth character could be a single number from 0-9 or otherwise it could be the letter X. It's sometimes called a check digit and is used in a certain calculation to help confirm the authenticity of the VIN.

I notice you called the Harley dealer. Give him another call and see if he agrees with what I've posted. Ask him to take a look inside an Evo parts catalog and he should find all or most of what I've said. Eric

Default google is far from your friend

Great job Eric, that is the kind of post I expected when I joined this forum.
as for the others that basically said "get off you azz and find it yourself" get bent. Googled my engine number and got nadda. I am a newbi Harley owner and love the kind of thing Eric just did, it helps us that dont have a clue find out more about our rides.
