Default Engine ID numbers

I've tried looking this up with no luck . I'm trying to find a website or some way to decode my engine #'s BKLX940078 . I appreciate any
help .

But if you really wanna know, it's in the very front of your owner's manual.

according to my owner's manual... you don't have a Harley engine.

BUT, I wouldn't necessarily believe this... I'd call the service department of your local dealer.

Your engine is pre 1981 that's about all I can help. Starting with 1981, all serial numbers were standardized to 17 digits.

Only on the frame number, engine will only have the base ID and sequential number.

It's on a Santee frame so that number doesn't help me any .

Would have been good to point that out in your OP - a google search would tell you that it looks like you have an FXSTC engine.
