Default Changing speedometer cable

was wondering if anyone has done this and if so was it involved,,need a new one and am trying not to pay someone if i dont have to,,any tips would be appreciated,,thanks

did 1 on an old '86 FLTC I used to have, if I remember it didn't take more than 10 or 15 minutes.

Mine, and a lot of others, doesn't have a speedo cable.

If you really want some help then a little descriptive help would be nice. Such as the year and model. Or don't you know like the rest of us.

If you're talking about the bike in your sig pic it should be a piece of cake. Remove the dash with the 1/2" nut in the center. You may have enough room to get at the knurled piece on the top of the cable (under the speedo) to unscrew it. Disconnect the other end front the left side of the front wheel. For the old models they sell just the inner cable. If they do that for yours it is probably all you need.

If you are taking about the 99 Fatboy in your profile...it has an electric speedo...last cables were 95 on Softails.

thanks tom,,had it in for an o ring leak and the speedo was working then not working,the mech i use said they get dirty and he cleaned it up,,and it worked for a half a day then not working at all,,as you can see i have no idea how to repair my bike so i guess i need an expert opinion,,thanks to all who took the time to help me out,,
