Got my 06 RK custom back a while ago from its 5000 mile check-up, and it has a new noise. I put another 1000 miles on it now, and I still have the noise. It was not there before, so I thought it might be due to an adjustment or something in the check up. It sorta sounds like those off-road tires on pavement sound. Kinda roars a little now. The sound is definatley coming from the drive train somewere because I killed the engine at 40 mph, and listened to it all the way down to its stop. Hasnt gotten any worse, or better over the last 1000 miles, but I did take it in to have it checked. They told me they couldnt here anything outa the ordinary. I know that all Harleys make different noises, and for Gods sake, I dont want to take it in everytime a 'new noise' comes out cuz I will probbably be there all the time. Just wondering if anyone else has or had this type of sound. Thanks for any input anyone might have.

I hear that sound when I drive my Jeep on the street!
But seriously, get yourself a MC lift and put your bike in the air. Then spin the tires and listen.Could be the drive belt.
Some dealers are not helpful.
Putting up on a lift yourself sounds like a good idea. I have an 05' RKCustom and do not have that noise. If you use the word "roar", I would think that something needs adjusted.
I had read years ago that the biggest reason for break downs on a vehicle can usually be traced to the last person that worked on it.
Another statement was that you should not get normal periodic maintenance done right before you are taking a trip. Either have it done well in advance of a trip or wait until you come back.
This doesn't answer your question, except for double checking what was done during maintenance.
It sounds as if the deive belt may be to tight. If it's out of alighnment or too tight it will sound kind of like an off roader. I think that is one of the adjustments on the 5000 service if I'm not mistaken.
