over here in the northwest uk, we have just lost a dealership group they had a total of four shops 3 in the northwest and one in scotland, so that means the only way to get parts is a trip of 80miles or order over the internet, now thats ok for getting service parts or ordering something to fit over winter but if i need a small part during summer then my bike could be off the road till its delivered, one of the reason's i bought my harley was there was a shop locally so i could even walk there, now it looks like i will have to consider going over to a jap make as the nearest shop is a honda dealers. normally i wouldn't consider such a thing but in the uk the riding season is fairly short due to them putting salt on the roads, and i dont want to be off the road in that time. whats the average mileage to your local dealers/part suppliers in your state.
Kalamity ... There is only one dealership on the whole southcoast of England from Margate to Cornwall unless Dockgate 20 has reopened in Southampton if you want a dealer inland there's Guildford Surrey , Warrs Mottingham Kent , and Warrs Kings Road Chelsea , so that's it ... Can't ever seeing me buy a jap bike because the dealers closed down they churn new models out ever week no heritage there! .... just bikes

really? going to a jap bike because of that? i don't have a dealer that close to me either, though not quite as far as you, about 60 miles. but i would never consider a metric.
here's a thought, have some faith in your bike. make sure you do your periodic maintenance and check things out. if you see something that will need attended to in the future, go ahead an pick it up so you have it on hand. between the wife and i we are on our 5th hd in 10 years, keeping our bikes an average of 4 years each. have never been stranded, never had to wait for a maintenance part. now a chrome go faster goody? sure waited on those plenty of times, i order them over the internet for 20+% off.....
