You're mad at HOG and the MOCO so you don't ride your Harley???
Sorry man, but that sounds like your cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Not because I am mad. A little disappointed maybe. I think HOG and the MOCO have abandoned riders. My Street Rod is a very good bike. My "other brand" was once similar to Harley but now no Harley comes close in any way. Technology, handling, power, durability, no comparison.
Never bought a new harley in my life, and as the used market looks, never will. Even if I did, I wouldn't want to be caught dead hanging out with HOG people.
Glad I read this. I was considering a HOG membership for some of the bennies...would never go to rides or events. Reviewing the benefits, I already have most of them! Discount at dealer...check, road service (That commie org. gives me 100 miles of free tow), check
I dont need patches, pins, hats and scarves. I already look like a poser and dont really care! Full leather jacket and gloves and DOT helmet all the time. (Went down a few times in my youth and remember them well, also remember what saved me!) I dont heal well anymore!
When I bought my first HD (used) from a dealer, the owner suggested that my wife and I should come to a hog meeting and meet other riders. That was a good suggestion and years later, we still have good friends that we met through that hog chapter. However, none of us are members anymore. There seems to be a lifecycle to hog membership--after a few years of membership you start being elected to offices...then you see how things really work in that organization and start getting frustrated...then you say "f-it" and turn it over to the new people coming in. Fast forward six years. A few weeks ago my wife and I were riding through the town where we used to live and stopped by the dealership just to see if we knew anybody. There was a hog photo album lying out, and we thumbed through it. Not a single face or name was familiar.
When we were moving 4 years ago, I came across the old hog vest with the patches and line of pins and just threw it in the trash.
I was under the impression HOG was always rather pathetic. I viewed it as a group of non-bikers, first time owners who wanted to get into the "Harley Mystique" and wear a vest with a big patch on the back - like "real bikers".
I know that sounds derogatory, and I wish I could say it some way to make it seem less so, but... it's just what I have observed in the local HOG chapters. It may be totally different elsewhere.
