I have been a HOG member for years, been an officer for years, I was a Chapter Director for several years. I was looking at what Harley has planned for Sturgis and saw there was a New Model Introduction Party for HOG members on Aug 7th. Sounded good, I have gone to the HOG hospitality event in Sturgis every year. I went to the HOG website to get tickets and they are charging $20! $20 to see the models the public can see for free starting Aug 6th???
Why should anyone bother with a HOG membership? So you can pay $45 a year (I think it's $45 I am a life member) to get a membership that gives you the privilege of paying to attend HOG events? This is just one more reason HOG is a failing organization. The days when the Motor Company saw value in HOG are over. The new management has ended any support for HOG and is letting it die a slow death. There was a time when I was a Harley and HOG loyalist. I was a true believer. Now my Harley sits more and more and my BMW needs another set of tires.
I was a HOG member for 2 years, it just wasn't my thing so I left, but at 62 I still feel that
Harley Davidson builds the best bike, we had our dark days when AMF took over, but I for one road it out, and things got better, I still would rather ride my WG than anything else,
I ride all the time, Harley to me is America, it's what we stand for, small company that made it with good products (overall) I don't buy a lot of motor clothes and do dads, but I did buy the bike I fell in love with and hopefully will have it for a long time.
Do agree it's pathetic to charge $20 for viewing new bike line-up...doubly agree w/the fact HD expects riders to pay this ridiculous amount. Guess they want to keep the audience @ corporate-level (white collar) vs. owner/rider...
Don't sweat it - don't go, or call HOG centeral & try to squeeze freebie tickets.
I agree man,I've been a member for years and an officer also, but I'd pass on this.20 bucks is crazy, membership must be down and they need revenue.Just plain stupid.
Love the Harley, but will never pay money just so I can have a patch and ride in a group. I was a member for the 1 year they gave me when I bought my bike. Thumbed through the magazine for a minute. That was about it. Could not see paying $45 a year for that. But some people really get a use out of that sort of thing
