Hmmm, glad we won the Revolutionary War but the Brits are our greatest allies in current times. The P51 Mustang would not have fared as well as it did in WWII had it not been for the British Merlin engine which eliminated stalls in high altitude maneuvers due to the original carburetor engine.
However, the US military is by far the best ever; now if the politicians will get out of the way and let them do their thing we'd all be better off.
Thank you Vets!
im with you on the politicians spoiling a good punch up , and thanks for the the greatest allies remark , that is appreciated , we end up playing devils advocate a lot of the time in world affairs (good cop bad cop ) , but there is a lot of behind the scenes work that none of us get to see or hear about , our leaders apparently speak socially at least once a week , and i think obama after maybe Clinton is one of the better modern presidents , who thinks a lot before he acts , our countries share a long history , and we all have the same blood running through our veins , i wish i hadn't mentioned the gay thing now , BJ took it to heart a bit , but i hope the rest of you guys took it as it was meant ,( a joke) and not up the **** , so to speak ....lol
As far as being ridden "continuously", that's easy considering that your average cruiser sees barely over 2,000 miles a year.
No. The guys I know who ride older Harleys live on them. They might have an old pickup that gets a few miles per year, but they definitely put some serious miles on their bikes.
Don't know about that bit of bullshit , mine cruises nicely at 90 with no buzz or mirrors flying off and I've twisted the speedo needle off twice so top end is well over 120 , bring them on .
bjewell .... A lot of military from many nations suffered in the defence of freedom in WW11 as did the citizens of Europe ( the resistance fighters ) not American's but European's who risked their lives to help repatriate many nationalities so please dont bang on about we owe you a favour ...... all played a part in stopping tyrany then and hopefully for the future and formed a world coalition of nations to stop such a thing happening again and that is now the United Nations .... Obviously humor between us get's lost crossing the pond it really isn't that big of a deal to have kicked off like it did so let's move on now you both have thrown your toys out the pram and get back to the origional thread! .....

I have trouble looking cool no matter what I ride.
At any rate, the two air cooled HD's I've owned have been as reliable as the two liquid cooled Hondas and one Suzuki I've had with the added benefit of being much easier and straightforward for a non mechanic like me to work on. Living in an urban area surrounded by flatlands, with the desire to bring a passenger and pack some stuff occassionally, the cruiser style is most practical. I've never been been a fan of the look of metric cruisers (my Jap bikes were all standards) and liquid cooling is a non issue. Add it all up and the HD makes most since for me.
If all I did was solo riding without the need for luggage and a few hills or curves in the road, I might have ended up with one of those gay Triumph Speed Triples instead.
