Default USA made helmets?

I intend to buy a FF helmet and was looking at the Bell brand. Wrote asking where Bell helmets were made. Answer was: 'overseas'. I've been out of riding for a long time, but I was sure Bell made/use to make their helmets in the USA.

Are there any helmet manufacturers in the USA?

Thanks

I'm a big fan of the Japanese brands Arai and Shoei, both are excellent and in my opinion the best alternatives to the chinese made. I know there are some euro made helmets out there that are very well made(my wife has a Nolan, made in Italy) but I have had zero luck in finding one that isn't ugly. I know of no USA made helmet on the retail level. EDIT: There are some Simpsons made in USA but you must click on each model to find out. The USA made one will say so.

Interesting but I will never buy a helmet over the net or phone unless I have tried it on first.

I made an error. Here is email from CS Bell. Made 'overseas' and China

Dear Dave,

We apologize for the inconvenience. Majority of our Bell helmets are specifically made in China. Any further concerns, contact us.

Sincerely,

I had similar concerns, at first.

After numerous conversations with the staff at Super Seer, and a few conversations with some of the local HPD riders, I ordered the S1608 model.

Fixed visor (doesn't vibrate), air vents, summer and winter inserts and a few other minor additions. Extremely pleased. Fits perfect, stays put. Multiple long distance trips, over 20,000 miles in the last 18 months, no negatives from my perspective.

They were more than willing to exchange if the sizing was not correct. Their measurement system and top notch communication worked for me.

Be prepared to pay, not the lowest priced item one could purchase. More than worth it to me.
