Round-a-bouts are great....if you know how to use them. I lived in England for several years and grew to appreciate them.
So...someone smacked into you at a round-a-bout, would have been better at a yield sign? Hope you and your bike are better soon.
Willie, soory for your trouble man. Heal up quick.
I think faber nailed it... people just aren't used to them. I grew up in New England, so they are second nature to me (except we call them "rotaries"). It's funny (in an unfunny way) when I encounter one here is SoCal. No one seems to know what to do. I've only encountered two here... one in oldtowne Orange, and another on PCH in Long Beach.
Interesting because the last I read, roundabouts reduce accidents at intersections between 40-60%. Do you hate stop lights and cross walks as well? I've been rear ended at both, but never at a roundabout.
We have a lot in DC. I'm not a big fan of them...
I hope you get better and glad you're still here to tell the story. Hope your bike gets fixed....but all the same remember - bikes can be fixed or replaced while you may be able to be fixed to an extent, but never replaced.

Ride defensively everyone!
Most people I know avoid the Long Beach traffic circle(AKA Demolition Derby) like the plague. Previous poster is right- too many stupid people.
I was one an older FLT land barge with the dual headlight fairing and the bags and traffic was moving a lot faster , I'd have been tickled silly if they had moving that slow .
