Seems like there is only a hand full that makes you wonder why they got a Harley in the first place.
Could the bikes be better? More than likely they could. Am I satisfied with my choice? Totally.

I have a great idea: Is there any way we could make a duplicate board -- here of course -- that was for people that actually love their Harley, despite their so-called imperfections? Seems like there is a growing posse of folks here who can only **** and moan about the bikes.
Hey... I got it. No ****, I feel yer pain. Must be terrible.
But I really don't give a ****, okay? And I bet there might be, ummmmm... maybe another half dozen folks here who feel the same way. Ya think?
Or we could have yet another page cause lord knows there sure are enough of them here for PEOPLE WHO HATE HARLEYS AND HARLEY RIDERS. Sorry to shout.
In the meantime, if you know someone who got killed on their Harley or cancer from the hot pipes on a 96, thinks foreign cruisers are just the ****, we HAVE to get water cooling or puppies will die, maybe thinks Congress should regulate what's in our tool boxes or feels strongly that our mere presence on the planet with our loud, obnoxious air-cooled, poorly constructed, evil inspiring, fat *** bikes is making you, your fat wife and your stupid kids uncomfortable ... well you could please hang out there by yerselves. Have a ball, it's free, donuts and coffee at the door.
It would be a blessing for the rest of us trying to have a civil conversation about Harley-hyphen-Davidsons and you would be among like minded folks.
Sounds like a win-win to me...

Think since the beginning there have probably been folks who have been critical of the Motor Company in one way or another..,fit, finish, service, mechanics, paints,etc. I got into Harleys in the mid 60s so my knowledge is obviously limited prior to that but when AMF bought out HD a lot of folks believed it was the end.
When I bought my 65 pan my dad (rode flatheads) could not believe I would actually own a bike with a kick-starter, but he helped me make it roadworthy!
I read the threads because I find them amusing and I think they illustrate the point that no matter how hard you try, you cannot always get it right.. There were problems with past designs and since it is not a perfect world there are problems with some areas of HD today.
Every time I read the threads about bearings, heat, leaks that should not be, I go out to my 84 FLH and smile. Yea she is old, not the best looking, does not have modern electrical wiring components, no fuel injection and many more non-upgrades, but she is easy to maintain, gets down the road without problems and has that "something" I just do not see or get with modern bikes. And please understand I mean no disrespect for modern bikes. My hat is off to you that support the Motor Company because it is your support that keeps her strong in spite of the things that go wrong.
Guess the critical analysis has/will always be a part of the industry. The internet has made it a bit more accessible for all rather than the old rotary dial telephone or the lunch ride to Alice's on Sunday, sitting over breakfast bitching about your latest complaint.

I like some of what you say, but I have to agree with Big Steve. I can love my Harley and not love what the company is doing. If the Moco switches to all water cooled or perhaps a horizontally opposed 4 cyclinder engines would it be the same? I think what a lot of us are looking for is for the Moco to maintain the linage and all that entails.
We all know about the shortcomings of our putts, we f@cking got the clue dudes. But we don't **** and moan like a bunch of fairies about it.
It's called an i-n-t-e-l-l-i-g-e-n-t conversation about the good AND bad with the bikes. And I'm not the reason for any f@cking problems that you might be aware of although there are a couple pending that don't look too good...
