Seat Problems
Well, it turns out that they put a rat tail on there after-all (I didn't realize they did... DOH!)... So since I don't really plan on taking the seat off anytime soon, I guess I'll live with it the way it is. Since I have a Corbin seat, and they installed a HD sissybar, there is some incompatibility. Basically, the downside is that if I want to take the seat off I'm going to have to unbolt the sissybarr too. Kinda a pain, but since I should rarely need to do that I guess I won't make a fuss about it...
I have a 2003 Deuce, so I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I have two Corbin seats I use on the Deuce. One is the Corbin Youngun which is what is on the bike when I ride solo. When the wife rides I swap the seats and use a Corbin Gunfighter plus Lady. I use the Corbin backrest for that seat unless we are going on and extended trip and then I put the factory sissybar on that has the luggage rack on it and that is when getting the seat on or off is a pain. The chrome tab that extends from the rear of the corbin seat should slide in and out about 1.5 inches. Remove the hardware that holds the seat on and I will tell you right now, you need to spend the $15 and get the HD thumb screw that replaces the allen head bolt. Once the hardware is removed, slid the seat attachemnet hardware in and under the seat towards the gas tank. Reach inbetween the sissybar pad and the seat and grasp that chrome tab with you hand, firmly push the seat towards the gas tank using a sliding motion and pull the rear of the seat up. Doing this will allow just enough clearence to lift the seat free but you need to keep your hand on the seat tab to protect it from dragging against the sissybar pad. Its a tight fit, but it will come off.
Now if this all seems to be a hassle, just purchase the quick disconnect for the sissybar and install. Then when you need to remove the seat, just press a lever, pop off the backrest and then the seat is not impeded at all.
That is the simplest solution, I went over the top and just bought another bike (Ultra) so now I don't ahve to switch seats very often, but, dam, that was an expensive solution! LOL
