A superstition is anything that people believe that is based on myth, magic, or irrational thoughts. They are beliefs that are steeped in lore or tradition, and it is usually difficult to pinpoint the exact origin. Superstitions are also known as old wives' tales, legends, and traditions. They may involve animals, graveyards, ghosts, inanimate objects, or even other people.
Now why would anyone believe in them.??? I sure don't..
never heard that one.
and i dont belive in superstition anyway.
i just believe the best way to stay out of trouble is keep aware of whats around you. Ride defensively
I don't have any particular superstitions about the bike, but I do fold the passenger footboards up when my woman isn't on it. Otherwise they tend to bump me in the back of the leg when manouvering at ultra-low speed.
I get off the bike mostly on the left side, but I have gotten off on the right a time or two and never given it a second thought. As far as mounting the bike, I don't get on from either side. I do it western style, I get a running start and jump on from the back like the cowboys used to do.
Those are not really superstitions as they have a practical aspect.
- if you crash having the pegs folded can help protect you from injury from them
- a bike is easier to mount from the left side if it is on the side stand
They mention both in most rider courses.
