Anyone have tips for getting the leftovers of fried bugs off the pipes? I got VH black pipes and is starting to look like the bottom of a used frying pan. I tried a couple of safe solutions and even WD40....still signs of it. The black grime is on them pretty damn good.
Wet towel draped over the offensive area after the pipes have cooled off for a couple of hours. Rehydrate their burnt carcases then use Pro shine and wipe off works for me.

Use a $.95 net sponge found at WalMart and other fine discount junk stores. It is a yellow sponge wrapped in a white fishnet. They will not scratch the finish, and grabs bugs like nobody's business! I use them on my show cars.
It's been mentioned in a lot of threads about getting bugs off to use a solution of Hydrogen Peroxide. I can't remember the ratio but you could just do a search for Hydrogen Peroxide and you would find it.

Yup, half hydrogen peroxide and half water. i put a couple splashes of vinegar.
This works great on windshields also with a microfiber towel.
Regular chrome polish also works on bugs on the pipes.
Good for getting them off of a windshield also. Had a buddy teach me that. I get in from riding--wet down a clean soft towel and drape it over the front of my windshield. Wait an hour or so --remove towel---use soft cloth and bugs come right off without chemicals.
Pledge, spray it on, leave set for a bit, wipe off with a microfiber towel. Works on most everything on the bike. (Chrome, windshield, painted surfaces) I don't use it on the top end of the motor.
Go to a Yamaha or Honda dealer & get a can of that Original spray stuff. About the size of a can of spray paint. It's the best. Use it on everything --- windshield, paint, chrome, EVERYTHING. You'll be shocked how little you'll have to work to get it clean. That's all I use anymore.
