Perhaps, like everything human beings become involved in, the EPA is in some areas, too bureaucratic and hamstrings businesses with red tape and nonsense.
But this is what you get with NO environmental regulation. Surely there is a successful compromise.
You don't really know the history of the EPA and what it has done, do you?
I believe do, and I do support the EPA for the most part. What I do not agree with is using it as another branch for the government to corrupt. I do not agree with strongarming businesses with petty regulations. I do however, support cleaning the air/environment and regulating the amount of toxins that companies can emit. I do agree with protecting our oceans and wildlife, I do not agree with unrealistic requirements set for auto manufacturers.
When people say "get a stage 1 setup", are you talking about the air filter and exhaust upgrade with a competent tuner? Or are you talking about a Stage 1 download from the dealership? Because I've heard that the Stage 1 download from the dealership just retunes the new equipment back to stock form. So you're really not gaining anything.
All MoCo downloads will abide by EPA regulations. If a race tuner is purchased, then it can be used t adjust the AFR to lower than EPA regs, with the caveat that "this is meant ONLY for the track....you're never gonna ride this on the street, right?
It's true that older bikes were not set up to run as lean as they are now. But it's easy enough to get around with a stage 1 setup using a good tuner. With it the bike will run cooler and stronger. Problem solved.
prob here is that a Stage 1 makes the bike illegal as per the epa regs. I;m guessin' it is getting that way in places like CA as well. Penalties over here are stiff if the law catches you out, 1st time caught out is have your licence suspended for a month + a hefty fine, oh, and you'll have to walk home......aint no such thing as a fixit ticket here, and the LEOs do enforce on a regular basis, fortunately they dont profile too much and seem to target more or less everything on the road for random checks.

Really? So do they just pull you over at random to shove a three or five-gas analyzer in your tail pipe and slap a ticket on your forehead if you're giving mother nature cancer? Do they not have inspection and emissions tests there for these purposes?
No worries EPA will have ya bike sounding like a moped, DOT will have ya wearing a giant helmet with a spinning light on top wearing a bright orange vest. My motor ran so hot when I rode it 50 miles while motor was still stock my leg was fried!!!!
I would not want to ride in Switzerland for sure--- no modifying your bike there and traffic laws are brutal.
EPA is way out of control and I own couple small business's trust me if they or there leader has there way the depression will be very real............But what the hell do I know I still say the Pledge of Allegiance salute our flag and only Hire Legal American Workers what the hell I must be a nut..
