Default First Scratch...

Well I knew it would happen sooner or later, but after only a week I now have a scratch on the powder coat paint on the handlebars of my Nightster. Anyone have any ideas on how to cover up or touch up the tiny scratch that to me looks like the size of a silver dollar (even though its more of the size of a pinkie finger nail).

I tried using a sharpie but the mark it left isn't deep black enough to blend in with the powder coat paint.

I had planned on putting some mini apes on it eventually anyway, does anyone have an estimate on labor costs a HD deal would cost to put them on? Or should I try to do it myself.

Thanks.

For labor for the apes, you'll be looking close to 8 hours at your shop rate. if you're confident and have the manual, do it yourself.

Automotive black touch up paint in the little bottles. & then I think it's either Maguire's or 3M that makes a wax specifically for any black paint you can touch the area up with after the touch up paint cures.

P.s.- "Happy New Scratch"! Welcome to the brotherhood of black bike owners.

Had mine a day! Took delivery on Sunday, May 29th. Monday was the Holiday...so my wife and I took a ride on the new bike with the Sundowner saddle installed (she hates the stock seat). Decided to put the stock seat back on after the ride...I like the stock seat. Dropped the set screw and it of course scratched the paint on the fender...what are ya' gonna do!

I use black modeling paint on my frame (nicks) and it never wears away...might be worth a try.

First dinger is the worst - now your scoot has character...

+1 on the model paint. And use a brush smaller than the scratch/flake. Oh yeah, now that you got your first scratch it's really yours! ;-)
