I have to agree, the older Wide Glide looked better than the current one. However, I do think the newer one is a nice looking bike. If I had the $$, I'd be shopping for an older Night Train... There are quite a few out there. I guess I gotta start saving my pennies!
When I was looking for a bike in '09 I was looking at the '07 FXDWG, '07 FXSTC and '07-08 FXSTB. Never found a STB in my price range and within 700 miles (distance I was willing to travel). Looked at a STC (45 miles) but was not that impressed. Found a DWG in Iowa (650 miles), drove out and bought it.
Buddy of mine has a '00 STB. It has seen better days but is still a sweet bike. He added mini apes and that for me is a much better look than the drag bars (had drags on a previous bike and do not like them).
Anyway, even though I was no longer in the market for one I was sad to see them discontinue the train and hope they bring it back, without completely changing it like they did the DWG.
I'd be afraid if they did they would ruin it like they did the Wide Glide when it came back.
They didn't ruin the Wide Glide, they just made it needing a lot more bolt on replacement part's and accessories to make it look nice. Hey!!...Wait a minute...they have been doing that to all the bikes for years. I think there might be some evidence of this in the 850 page accessory catalog.
