For those who were interested, I changed the Syn3 out for Amsoil. HUGE difference! The engine is amazingly more quiet, and the transmission shifts much smoother and quieter as well. Rode it hard for an extended period of time, and I'm impressed. Not totally conclusive, but sure sounds good.
It's hilarious to see all the doom and gloom replies. If it was your inner bearings or cam chain tensioners, your engine would have suffered catastrophic failure by now. As you can clearly see, it was your valve train making noise. Just don't use Syn3 anymore. Your motor is fine.
I put syn 3 in my 2006 Low Rider at the first service. Riding home, bout a 45min trip, mine started to sound like that. Next day same thing when it got hot. Rocks in a prince albert can.
Changed oil and went with mobile synthetic v-twin. Valve train noise went back to pre syn 3.
Some bikes like it, some hate it. My Low Rider was pissed.
I started running the syn 3 at my last oil change (used dino oil before), and the valve train is much noisier than before on my 07 Sporty. The hotter the oil temp gets, the noisier the valve train. Everything is fine, just noisier. Gonna try Mobil 1 v-twin 20-w50 at next change and see if it's any different. I was told that the syn 3 will cause this at higher temps, I guess from my experience this is true and you may try a different oil.
My 02 Road King does the same thing when running hard for a period of time but goes away as I slow down and goes completely away while ridding thru town. I use Mobil 1. I just blame it on the Louisiana heat. It has been doing that since I bought the bike and I have put 40k miles on it in the last 3 years without any failure much less catastrophic failure . I think it is just lifter noise on a hot bike.

Never a fan of syn oil. It looks & feels like water,it seeps through gaskets, and it is noisy. How can all that be good for your motor? People have been running dyno since the beginning of the century with no problems;I'm stickin' with that.
BTW you're right about stuff forkin' up on Friday at 3 PM. Especially the central A/C. Especially in Florida in August!! The only things that DON'T fork up on Friday are the things that it doesn't cost extra to fix on a Saturday.

Not all synthetics are the same. We see this time and time again on here. I am glad that I live near the Yoda of Harley engines. When I get to scratching my head about something----he points me in the right direction. Not pushing a brand name because I don't care what others use but I do compare results. Mobile 1 has been good to my engines and Belray in my transmission. Primary gets just gets hd brand primary oil. I hardly ever hear complaints about amsoil.
