Thinking about picking up an SG soon. I'm 5'9 and 175lbs, anybody have and troubles with handling, or the stock placements of the bike that's around the same height and weight as myself?
Thanks.
I'm very close to your size, 5'10-170lbs, and have a 11 limited. So
not a exact comparison.
I flat foot fine, with boots, and don't have any handling/riding issues. Bars and
controls seem fine too. This is the first seat that I haven't been thinking
about getting rid of immediately. It is narrower and has a little deeper
bucket then my last. A couple of 200 mile rides and no ergo complaints.
Only handling issue for me is moving the bike around if parked on
any type of incline. 900lbs is hard for me to get moving.
The SG is about 1" lower and about 80lbs lighter. I would think it
would fit you pretty well.
I'm 5'8" 160 lbs and sat flat footed on one at the dealership. I was wearing tennis shoes. So you at 5'9" shouldn't have any problem especially if wearing boots.
I'm 5' 8" 180 and could not flat foot both feet. Did not bother me. I did end up lowering the rear and shaving the seat. Both feet are flat now but no real bend in the knees. I then had the inner portion of the seat, nearest the tank on the sides, shaved and that worked great. It brings your legs in closer and you get more travel from your legs.
I'm 5'6", 130 pounds and female. Lowered both the front and back 1" and have a RK seat (it's narrowere at the nose). Never had trouble handling the bike, but the lowering allows me to feel more confident at stops on hills. I can also move it around much easier in my yard (which is grass, on a hill, and a bumpy, lump mess)
Interesting on one account, I'm 6' and weigh 225 and I could not flat foot my stock 2010 Street Glide. Changing to a 2011 seat did it for me but barely? I guess I just have a short inseam? You won't have any problems handling the bike though. Its a very well balanced machine. Love mine!
