Default Poser no More

That's right, I finally got a 2012 Heritage Softail classic. It's been a long time in coming. I've wanted a bike ever since I was a kid and had a crappy mini-bike with a Briggs and Stratton engine. It wasn't until I moved into a house that I felt I could make a move on a bike. Before that, I lived in one apartment after another, with no garage or carport. I knew when I got a bike, I'd want it garaged. I took the MSF course and got a 600cc Suzuki. I soon was looking for an upgrade. At the time, I walked through the local Harley shop and thought "you've got to be kidding" about the prices (expensive, but sooooo nice). I ended up getting a Kawasaki hard bagger. After several years, I was liking it less and less. The seat height was OK, but it was a bit too top heavy and not that well balanced (I tipped it over twice, which was twice too many times). Realizing that I was not going to be a cross country tourer, I began to look for a bike that was easier to handle at low speed, with a low seat height (I'm 5'8", 29 inseam), that I could ride for as long as I wanted to. I went back to Harley, with a different outlook on life and a willingness to spend more to get what I really liked and what fit me the best. I was drawn to the Heritage by its low seat height and good looks (sounds like my wife). It fit me better than other Harleys I sat on. A couple demo rides later, and I knew the Heritage would be the bike for me. I wanted a new bike. Unfortunately, being the stubborn person that I am, I sat out the 2011 model year, because I did not like any of the colors. I also did not like the swoosh on the tank. The swoosh was dropped for 2012. While I'm not trilled with the 2012 colors, I liked the midnight pearl/silver combo. I like the blue metallic flakes in the midnight pearl, which you can see in bright light. I made my move. Kawasaki-sold. Harley-ordered and delivered. For the past couple years, I have refused to buy anything that said Harley on it. A friend did give me a Harley shirt, which I have been wearing. Other than that, I really did not want to be a poser by wearing Harley stuff and not even owning a Harley (I hear David Allen Coe's "Harley Someday" in my head). I even felt a little sneaky by posting questions and responses on this forum, and not owning a Harley. Well, now I can say I am a poser no more!

Will post pics when I figure how. See signature for one pic.

Congrats and nice bike! Being a poser is a state of mind more than anything else and really is only relevant if you let others determine who and what you are.

Nice bike but I hope you didn't get the full meal deal HD riding kit (doo rag, fingerless gloves, assless chaps, chain wallet, etc because then you'll be that poser. LOL Get some heated gear instead, its almost winter.
