Heated gear would be great. It would cut down on the bulk you get with all the layers. I'm going to look into it.

I occasionally ride in the 20's ... well a lot on the way to work. Heated gloves are a necessity but several layers of fleece and some chaps usually do the trick.

+1. I have the Gerbings heated liner, and it stays on the bike year round. Less bulk, and like another said you can adjust the thermostat instead of pulling over and adding/shedding layers.
