I ride with some guys that ride imports. In the turns they can leave me in the dust, I just let them. They know I ride my own ride and will catch them later.

Stress or relax? I choose to relax.

When I am riding by myself (without others that I know), that whole 3/3rds of a lane is mine. I rarely share it. Someone encroaches without an invite, they're going to get an education.

If I don't feel comfortable with waving them past due to whatever reason, they can stop and wait for me to get a few miles ahead of them if they want to ride like that.

"Catching up to them" won't be necessary. Are you that inexperienced?

Well dude, you must have been alive only a few years then. Especially if you think a bike is gonna blow past someone without them knowing they are there.

But to play along with the uneducated, in a curve, I'll be the one closest to the yellow line. They're going to have to cross the line, or take the high side. That wouldn't be very smart either.

My point is, on a twisty narrow road with little to no shoulder, staying in the right 1/3rd isn't always so easy. And, if he is looking in his mirror too much while on the Dragon he may end up taking an unpleasant detour. There really isn't a lot of forgiveness there.

Besides - Sounds like he was maintaining a good pace and the other riders on the road need to relax and let him do his thing. But, times as they are, that isn't likely to happen. Not much courtesy out there on both sides. Fwiw - my take is that it's not about Metric vs V-twin. The slow should move over, and the fast should go to the track. The rest of us should be tolerant of the minor speed differentials we have and keep it (relatively) safe and fun.

.... x2. Having been on both sides of this argument, a simple move to the right side of your lane and a wave-on when you get to the next straight is typically all it takes (and, yes, even a road like The Dragon has places to allow this). Although it is not the norm, respect for ALL two-wheeled riders would be nice to see. Now, this respect does go both ways. The sportbike(s) coming up behind you shouldn't be crowding you either.

I have seen much bashing on this forum of the four-wheeled sightseers especially in the Fall months .... isn't this the same thing in reverse. Yes, we all have the same rights to the roadways. All it takes is a little respect of one another and we can all get along.

Amen to that!

Sorry to hear it Charlie. There are a lot of good, respectful bikers there, but a few punks ruin the whole thing sometimes. This is what gives the Dragon and sportbike riders such a bad reputation. Problem is that the police have no way to intercept some kid on a sportbike doing 70 down 129. It is a shame. But like stated, you have every right to be there, just as much as the next guy. More so, when you consider the fact that you play by the rules. I am on my way out the door right now to go ride with some buddies on the TOTD, and would be proud to ride wingman with you any day!

Staying close to the yellow line in a right hander at Deals Gap is a recipe for disaster, whether someone is pushing you or not. Not a good idea on any road with lots of twisties. Ever see someone crossing the yellow in a left hander?
Jonesee and Brian have the right attitude.
Plus, there are many paved pull offs available at deals Gap now.
