Sounds to me you and your wife have worked hard, succeeded and raised a family. Good for you. No reason to feel guilty, that's what we all should do. Be happy and ignore the butt head kid.
I grew up partly in housing projects and dropped out of school to join the Army when I was 17. I've worked construction and welding and been through plenty of fights and trouble with the police, been called a "gang member," (not motorcycle related) etc.
BUT: Later I got a job as a small town cop (and got my first motorcycle) and went to college and law school, with full scholarships for both. I guess to be a real bike I should have turned down the scholarships instead of making the most of them.
I'm sure losers who can't get ahead on their own now call me a RUB behind my back because I'm a lawyer now (even though I'm far from rich and I live in the country). None of them have ever said it to my face and they probably won't any time soon. If they have a problem with me, I haven't forgotten how to deal with it.
What is a RUB anyway??? "Rich Urban Biker"?? Rich is a relative term, compared to Bill Gates there isn't even one rich person on the planet. Compared to an unemployed bum, anyone with a job would be considered rich.
So I suppose the term is used in a relative way comparing the insultee to the insulter. If a dude calls you a RUB it means he's acknowledging that you are more well off than him, I take it as a compliment.
"Oh, you're calling me a RUB, thank you. As a matter of fact I do have a good job. I'm sorry that you're a loser, maybe think about going to school, it might help".
