Question Buy it or wait?

So I want to know your opinion on my situation. I have a 2012 RKC blue/black reserved for me when I get back the the states in March. total minus tax and license is 21,750 with the extended 5 year.

I've read a few posts about the good deals you can get on lightly used bikes so i started looking. Found a 2011 with 103 green apple only 631 miles.

Guy says all he has over 6K in parts on it and gives the dealers name. Just to cover my bases I call they know the bike and owner right away. Tell me it's all true about the parts and how well it's taken care of guy buys a bike decks it out keeps for a few months then starts on another one. Said it was his 3 third in 2011. 20,750.00 minus shipping tax and license.

Here's the parts list.
2011 Harley Davidson ROAD KING CLASSIC 103 Accessories:
*2 Set of keys and 2 Manuals/Books
*Fuel Doors Black LED Gauge H-D.
*Driving Lights H-D.
*Signature Series Seat Back rest Adjustable H-D.
*Billet Foot Peg H-D.
*Chrome Bullet H-D .
*Kit- Heavy Breather H-D.
*Apes Bars 16 H-D.
*Grips KURYAKYN.
*Handlebar Mount Switch-Black.
*LED Oil Level Dipstick digital Black H-D.
*High Output Headlamps Bulbs.
*Battery tender Waterproof.
*Cotton Windshield Storage Bag H-D .
*Chrome Center Stand H-D.
*All lights front and back LED super bright.
*Forks lights 100watts LED .
* 2 Electric OUTLETs for GPS and Accessories KURYAKYN.
*Touring suspension Air pump.
*7 Years Transferable H-D Full Warranty with Tires and wheels exp 2017 Nation Wide and Canada.
*New H-D Combination Speedometer/Tachometer Gauge Kit .
*Cover H-D
*2 Liners Soft H-D Saddle Bags.
*all the original Stock parts for the motorcycle.

I like both color combinations, and I still have a few months left here so not in a hurry, I don't want to kicking myself for letting a good deal pass me by. Sorry for the long read guys just wanted to give you all the info up front.

So what would you do?

If both colors work equally well for you, I would be all over the 2011, especially since it also has the 103ci.

It's up to you...and what add-ons that guy put on the bike that you actually like and will enjoy. The bike may be worth the price...and more...if you actually LIKE the add-ons that it has. If you would not have put that add-on on your own brand new bike, IMO throw away that added value.

Do you want ape bars? Could always have the dealer swap that if you wanted.
Some of the extra lights?

The 7 year warranty is good.

In the end, it's up to you. The bike you chose..and would probably end up spending more on in the long run once you're done putting on some accessories....but at least you can call it "all yours". Or...the more wallet friendly move and get the used bike that's already had some stuff added...and you'll probably end up spending less in the long run since it already has many options.

It's up to you and how much you place a value on getting some new and all yours.

Thanks for the advise on the pass. I will be paying cash as it is. From what I have read on here, and friends that have them back in the states the 09 and up frame is worth it.

The decked out 11 sounds good and there is alot of money spent, but do you like the mod the guy did? See when I got my bike it had a ton of bolt on's, but now after owning it 3 years half the stuff he put on the bike is now off the bike as I wanted to make it more my own. I got a good deal on the bike so evern removeing some of the parts did not cost me. it's all up to you really. The one metric dealer I use to deal with had a customer do what that one guy is doing. This guy would buy a new sport bike, deck it all out and make it evern faster-ride it a bit then trade it in and do another one. So someone would get a decked out bike done right for alot less than if they got a new one and did it on their own.

Do you like all the changes that the guy made to the used bike? Usually I land up removing many of those things because they are not the right fit for me or match my tastes. If they are all things you would have done to the bike, then that is the one to get.

I would buy the new one. Break in done by you. I would love to have bought my bike brand new. The used one does sound like a great deal but I really like that new bike smell

What I would do is let someone else take the hit on a new bike and buy a pre-owned bike. Once a new bike leaves the dealership, it's not new anymore and loses at least 10%.

I bought my 2009 Ultra used with 2,400 miles. It had ABS, Security, a shitload of add-ons such as pipes, stage1, PCV, air cooler, tons of chrome, and a 5-year ext. warranty. I paid $20K cash for it. I figured I saved at least $4,500 over a new one with the same stuff.

Considering that the bike has a 103" but no "expensive" add-ons like pipes, tuner, besides the extended warranty, I think you should be able to negotiate a little, especially if you have the moolah in hand.

What you listed as add-ons is not worth $6K IMO. You can easily figure that out by looking at the HD accessory catalog. The 7-year Extended warranty with wheels and tires coverage is around $1,500 when bought with the bike.

Good luck.
