I just got home from work, but while in route to the house I had an encounter with one of those four legged foes, I was riding the back road that leads home and came to a long straight away and there was a set of bright lights at the other end of it (probably half mile off) I dimmed my light to be courteous, BUT the car that was approaching never dimmed their lights, I soon realized that they were no longer moving (just sitting in the middle of the road), at this point I slowed down to the posted speed limit of 45, I was just about to this car that was sitting there and WHAM I hit a deer, BUT the good news is that the car that was parked in the road had already hit this deer and it was laying in my lane, so I more or less run over it, but it still was no fun, managed to keep the bike upright, stopped and checked on the driver of the other car who was on the phone with 911, when he finished his call, talked to him and he mentioned that since I too had hit this deer that I needed to wait on the county deputy. I looked my bike over and made sure he was ok AGAIN, and since there was no damage to my bike I left the scene.
Was I wrong to leave? should I of stuck around and waited on the popo?
Id have been PIZZZZED, chances are pretty good that if he had killed his headlights and turned on the E flashers, you would have seen that deer, maybe flash his headlights off and on several times as a warning. he just sat there and watched a bike run up on a downed deer.

I'm with him, smack that driver and then leave the scene.

Well the more I think about it now, the more I realize that you are right, if he had dimmed his high beams I would of seen what was there, and been able to avoid it, but I am not going to fault him entirely, after all the deer did run in front of him, and he did appear visibly shaken. I guess I should also be kinda pissed at myself for riding in a known area for deer at 1am (and I was speeding at first, but had to slow down due to the lights blinding me), and I am also glad that he hit the deer first instead of me hitting it first.
I am still shaken somewhat over hitting it, I did not see it until it was too late, I hit it mid carcass, and it sent the bike air born. I looked over the bike at the site, but still it was dark, I need to check it out better in the morning.

Shame you didn't have your pickup, just throw it in the back and.....waa laaa....sausage.
Glad Ur OK, could have been bad. As long as U did hurt anything I'd prob left also. Just hope U didn't tweak anything where U'd need a report that say's U did hit it.
Around here U need the Deputy to sign papers so U can transport the deer.
can't just pick road kill up and go and be legal.
They have a call waiting list, for deer pickup. Put Ur name on it and they will call and 1st one that say's they'll pick it up right away gets it.
