This will be my last bike, I'm older now and the days of swaping bikes in & out every couple years is over. So I thought I would custom up this last one and die with it...so to speak.

Not only the money for the paint job down the drain but take off 10-50% of the resale price. Custom paint can kill a bikes resale. Saw a Softail with 5000 miles, over $5000 in chrome doo dads and $5000 in paint. It sold for $5000 because the paint was a Jurassic Park theme with a huge Dinosaur on each side (WTF?). Should of brought $8000+. This is an extreme example, your results may vary....

If your gonna keep it who cares, do the tins first, poof can it until you have the funds for paint.

Don't listen to anyone but yourself. Thats what its all about, being an individual. If you wanna roll with the crowd go buy a CVO or some other "factory custom" and ride.

Personnally, I wouldn't do either. I'd take the money and buy some US gold eagles - or comfort(if you travel a lot) or performance parts if you like speed and handling.

Do you want people to admire the paint job or the streched look -or is this strickly for you and to hell with what anyone else thinks???

I would go with the paint job because that's the first thing I notice about a bike. I couldn't care less about streching anything. Depends also on the custom paint - will it be flames, skulls, naked women? That will get old after awhile. Look at flames - everyone has flames - big deal. The more unique it is the better since you are NEVER going to sell.

I'd turn off the bold type in my post except for certain words that I wanted to make outstanding. I noticed that there was more after the title to the thread of "what would you do...?" but before I tried to read the post, I thought I'd answer the question.

Ok, now that I read your post, sounds like you already know what you are going to do. And yeah, I'd probably do the paint job later too if I really wanted that work done to the bike.

With all the stretched parts you are going to be paying for a paint job.
How much more could it cost to do the fairing, front fender (which I'm surprised you aren't changing anyway) and side covers?
Save up a few more bux and do it all at once.
